Posted on 29th Dec 2011It’s been a long time since I’ve properly released any music, so much so that many friends and fans have asked if I’m ever going to release something again. It’s been a hard question to answer - I’ve been working, but the past five years have been such a maze of so many pitfalls, disappointments and obstacles that I was beginning to ask that question myself.
It’s been a wild ride - rocky, rough, perilous, and it has taken everything out of me. I pretty much have nothing left, and that’s not an exaggeration.
Thankfully, that chapter is over now, and I have some new songs to show for it all.
More than that, as bruising and crushing as it has been, this time has served its purpose, and what I’ve endured has taught me so much about myself, things that I haven’t wanted to face up to. I still find myself in a strange place right now, but for the first time in a long time, I know the way out. That path begins with doing what I should’ve done a while ago, which is sharing these thoughts and feelings through the words and sounds that have been haunting me during this time. They’ve taken form in an EP called Shadowplay, which I’ll be releasing at the end of January 2012.
As dour as this all sounds, it’s an absolute weight off and I’m ready to set sail again. I hope these new tunes find their way to you, and I hope you dig ‘em.
Hope to see you soon,
Jason Fitzroy

A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times, may have altered the course of his life, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes of nature.

Exploring the airy edges of a new tune I’m conjuring. Reeks of Evergladian frog pond and dutty wine. Will perform it May 8th at Cozy Lounge.

The trouble with fiction… is that it makes too much sense. Reality never makes sense.
